How to Add Internal Notes to Knowledge Base Articles

Internal notes allow you to add private information to knowledge base articles that won't be visible to customers or used by AI agents. This is useful for storing metadata, internal discussion links, or other reference information.

Adding Internal Notes

To add an internal note to any knowledge base article:

  1. Open the knowledge base article you want to add notes to

  2. Type the forward slash key (/) anywhere in the editor

  3. Select "Internal Note" from the menu or search for it

Important Notes

  • Internal notes are only visible to your team members

  • Internal notes are not included in the published version of articles

  • AI agents cannot access or use information stored in internal notes

You can also create entirely internal articles by adjusting the viewing options when publishing. This is different from adding internal notes to public articles.
