How to do I prefill values in my ticket form?

Last updated: September 12, 2026

You can prefill values in your ticket form by encoding field values as URL parameters.

For example, you can add the query string ?subject=Issue+with+API to the end of your ticket form URL to automatically fill in the subject field in your form. You can also prefill name and email fields using URL parameters like name=Jane+Doe&email=jane@example.com.

Any custom fields you have included in your form can be filled in by using the slug name* of the custom field as the key and the desired value as the value. For example, for a Priority field in your form, you could add priority=urgent into your URL.

*Slug Name is not the API Slug listed under Issue Data. Rather it's derived from the value in the fields Display as setting of the form itself. Take that value, replace spaces with underscores, and lowercase it (matching is case-insensitive).

Examples:

  • Display as: Issue Priority → slug: issue_priority

  • Display as: Description → slug: description

Chain values together with & - ....?subject=Issue+with+API&priority=urgent

Important: URL parameter prefilling works for all form fields when users access forms through the customer portal. However, if users access forms directly from your application (not through the customer portal), automatic pre‑population of user‑specific fields like name and email is not available — only URL parameters can be used to prefill values. When name and email are auto‑filled through the customer portal, the email field is locked and cannot be changed by the submitter.
